Mesut Ozil has urged Arsenal to sign Julian Draxler so that he will be more likely to extend his own deal, according to reports.

The Germany playmaker has pleaded with bosses to snap up the Wolfsburg star, who looks set to leave the Bundesliga side in January, RMC Sport claim.

That could mean Ozil is close to making significant progress on his own contract talks if he is suggesting to the club what players would make good signings.

Ozil and left winger Draxler, 23, were part of the same Germany side that won the World Cup in 2014.

And it is clear that former Real Madrid star Ozil thinks Draxler has the quality to fit into Arsenal’s style of play and adapt to the Premier League.
